Solstice Joined AHA to Celebrate 15th National Wear Red Day

February 08, 2018 - PLANTATION, Fla.

Solstice Benefits, Inc., (Solstice) joined hearts with many other groups around the country this past Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, to celebrate National Wear Red Day. Employees of the dental and vision insurer showed up to work on Friday, vibrant in red to raise awareness about heart disease, the #1 killer in women, a fact that 45 percent of women still don’t realize. The company also kicked off their 2018 Broward Heart Walk fundraising efforts.

Research shows that maintaining good dental health is important not only in maintaining a healthy smile but for overall health. Many studies show correlations between oral health and medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, premature birth, and others. This oral and overall health connection, is at the heart of Solstice’s partnership with the American Heart Association. The other driving force is a desire to impact the community in which it serves, which has resulted in the company raising over $150,000 over the last seven years to support this cause.

“At Solstice, we are committed to improving the lives of our members and those in our communities. Our partnership with the AHA’s Broward Heart Walk allows us to take our commitment to heart health to the streets… literally,” said Solstice COO, Carlos Ferrera. “I’m so proud to work with passionate people who through their donations, grass roots fundraising efforts and participation in the Heart Walk, are willing to be the solution their community needs.”
