Solstice Walks the Walk for the American Heart Association

Solstice Heart Walk Team 2016

On Saturday, April 23, Solstice once again participated in the 2016 Broward Heart Walk, raising over $17,000 for the cause.

Solstice joined other groups and organizations, as well as thousands of community members, in the annual walk to fight cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of men and women and the No. 2 killer of children in the U.S. The 5k took participants around the Nova Southeastern University campus, which got people moving for the cause.

“At Solstice, we’ve supported the fight against heart disease for several years,” said Solstice COO Carlos Ferrera. “I’m so proud of the fundraising efforts by the entire Solstice team in support of the 2016 Heart Walk. Our employees worked hard to come up with creative ways to raise money for this cause that means so much to me and to the company.”

Funds raised will help the American Heart Association (AHA):

• Encourage individuals to get active using online heart health tools and walking programs
• Send a heart disease or stroke survivor to the AHA’s annual Heart and Stroke Lobby Day in Washington to educate policy makers about issues that affect America’s cardiovascular health.
• Mobilize thousands of women with the Go Red for Women movement, empowering them to take charge of their heart health with a personal record tracker and other health information.
• Save lives by training community members on essential CPR skills using the AHA’s innovative CPR Anytime self-directed personal CPR kit.
