Solstice Donates to Feeding South Florida

November 30, 2012 - Plantation, FL

For the second consecutive year, Solstice participated in the collection of food for Feeding South Florida, an organization dedicated to reduce hunger in their local community. This year, Solstice donated an additional 50 pounds of food than they did in 2011, contributing over 250 pounds of food to individuals and families in need. Items collected included canned meats, vegetables, rice, beans, fruits and various other foods. These donations support the hundreds of thousands of homeless and hungry families in the South Florida counties of Palm Beach, Broward, Miami Dade and Monroe.

49 million Americans are currently at risk of hunger. That's one in six Americans, most of which are children and the elderly. Since its founding in 1981, Feeding South Florida has been dedicated to addressing the growing epidemic of hunger by distributing over two million pounds of food every month to those in need including hungry children, working poor, physically or mentally challenged individuals, single parents, homeless individuals and families, senior citizens and those in assisted living facilities.

Keeping in mind the spirit of the season, Solstice employees were enthusiastic about participating in the food collection once again. Carlos Ferrera, Chief Operating Officer at Solstice said, “We have so many things to be thankful for this year and it’s important to recognize that as often as possible. Having the opportunity to give to those less fortunate for the second time is a reward in it of itself. It shows who we are as individuals and together as a team at Solstice.”

Solstice proudly supports Feeding South Florida and encourages other organizations and individuals to get involved as well. Learn how you can make a difference in curing world hunger starting in your local community: http://www.feedingsouthflorida.org/volunteer-time.htm
