Solstice CEO Dr. Leonard Weiss Receives LLS John Engdahl Award

June 18, 2015 - Plantation, FL

Solstice’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Leonard Weiss has been honored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with its John Engdahl Award. The award was established in recognition of John’s dreams and his accomplishments of running and raising much needed funds for the Society. These awards are given annually to Team In Training participants who raise more than $5,000 for their event and $1,200 for Fast Track events or Healthy Start programs.

John Engdahl Awards are also given to those participants who run in the Boston Marathon and raise $10,000 or more and qualified/waivered runners who raise $5,000. Dr. Weiss, who was on the LLS’s 2015 marathon team and also completed the race, raised over $34,000 for LLS.

This award is a tribute to the marathon that every blood cancer survivor runs, to the challenges of treatment and to the hope of a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for being named the recipient of this year's John Engdahl award,” said Dr. Weiss. “My success, as well as the success of all of my teammates, is a true testimony to the Society, specifically those individuals who supported the Boston Marathon fundraising event. There is no doubt in my mind that the level of success and passion that was exuded by all was a direct result of all of the ‘behind the scenes’ support that we received.”
